Lawmakers react after Iran launches drone from its territory towards israel Late Saturday, he called on the White House to “stand firm” and “stop coddling Iran.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson pledged the United States’ “total commitment” to supporting Israel.
“As Israel faces this vicious attack from Iran, the United States must demonstrate its full commitment to working with our vital ally,” Johnson said in a statement. “The world must ensure that it is not just about Israel.”
Prime Minister Johnson pledged to ask the White House to “take appropriate action.”
“We will continue to work with the White House to seek an appropriate response,” he said. “The Biden administration’s weakening of Israel and appeasement of Iran contributed to these horrific developments.”

“Now more than ever, we must support Israel,” former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) wrote on the X-Post.
Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Mississippi), the highest-ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said the U.S. commitment to Israel is “unwavering.”
“It’s time to show America is united with our allies. Our common enemies, including Iran and its proxies, need to know that America’s commitment is unwavering,” he said in a press release. “We must work with Israel to counter Iranian aggression with decisive action and overwhelming force.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, condemned Iran’s attack on Israel, placing responsibility on the Biden administration.
“Iran has besieged Israel and has been attacking Israel’s allies from almost every front for months. They have escalated their attacks by launching attacks directly from Iranian territory,” Cruz said in a statement. “These attacks are enabled and funded by deliberate policy choices by Joe Biden and Biden officials, who have allowed approximately $100 billion to flow to Iran since 2021. Americans and Israelis are made devastatingly vulnerable by these policies.”
Rep. Nancy Mace (R.S.C.) said President Biden must “stand firm” against Israel and “stop coddling” Iran.
“Iran’s drone strikes demonstrate that President Biden’s approach to Iran and the Middle East is backwards,” she wrote on the X-Post. “At the risk of entering World War III, the United States must support Israel’s commitment to democracy. The president must stand firm and immediately stop coddling Iran. ”
Rep. Mike Lawler (RN.Y.) said the Iranian regime’s “consistent” use of proxies “justifies” immediate U.S. action.
“Enough is enough. The Biden administration must take concrete steps to support Israel, our closest ally,” Lawler said in a press release. “This is a direct attack by Iran, and the regime has consistently used Iran as a proxy, requiring immediate U.S. action to support any Israeli response.”

White House vows support for Israel amid Iran attack, prepares for hours-long assault
“We stand with the people of Israel against this brazen and callous attack,” Noem wrote on the X-Post. “Iran hates democracy, freedom, and basic human rights and is an enemy of Israel and the United States.”
“We hope the Biden administration will uphold these shared principles and hold Iran accountable,” she wrote.
Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) wrote that attacks on Israel are a “direct result” of Biden’s “lack of leadership.”
“Iran just launched drone attacks on innocent Israeli civilians. This is a direct result of Joe Biden’s lack of leadership,” Mast wrote in the X post. “The White House should take a firm stand against Israel. Instead, it has spent months kissing the terrorist regime in Tehran to appease a few vocal far-left and anti-American members of Congress. .”

Biden was asked on Friday how imminent a potential attack on Israel by Tehran was in the wake of Israel’s attack on Iran’s Damascus consulate in Syria.
“I don’t want to touch on safe information, but my expectations are [is] “Sooner or later,” he answered.

Asked what his message was to Iran, Biden simply said, “Stop it.” When I asked for details, he walked away.
Democratic Rep. Steny Hoyer echoed Biden’s statement Friday, saying Israel has the “full support” of the United States.

“We support our allies in exercising their absolute right to defend themselves.”
US officials reaffirmed their country’s “ironclad” support for Israel while calling for de-escalation.

“We are dedicated to the defense of Israel. We support Israel. We support the defense of Israel, but Iran will not succeed,” Biden said Friday.
The Department of Defense and State Department have expressed similar positions.
