Noam Chomsky’s Views on Jeffrey Epstein Revealed
It seems that renowned linguist Noam Chomsky once expressed, in a letter, that he thought Jeffrey Epstein had “sharp insight.” This letter has come to light as part of the House Oversight Committee’s recent release of over 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate.
Within the documents, it’s indicated that Chomsky—a prominent academic at 96 years old—described Epstein as having “curiosity and a wealth of knowledge.” He mentioned in the same correspondence that Epstein served as a “regular source” of intellectual stimulation.
When the Daily Caller News Foundation sought a comment from Chomsky’s representative, they did not receive an immediate response.
In the letter, Chomsky recounted meeting Epstein six years prior and noted that they had maintained regular contact since then. Their discussions, he stated, spanned a wide range of topics and proved to be highly valuable for him.
Chomsky credited Epstein’s “boundless curiosity” and “keen insight,” saying that these qualities transformed him into a valued friend, a source of inspiration, and a partner in intellectual exchange.
Other documents unveiled by the Oversight Committee indicate that Chomsky continued to communicate with Epstein even after his arrest in 2008, when Epstein faced charges involving soliciting prostitution from a minor.
Chomsky is well-known as a key figure in modern linguistics, having taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since 1955 before joining the University of Arizona in 2017. However, in June 2023, he had a serious stroke and was reported to be recovering in Brazil.
According to reports, Epstein had arranged several meetings with Chomsky during 2015 and 2016 while Chomsky was still at MIT. When questioned about his relationship with Epstein, Chomsky remarked that it wasn’t anyone’s concern but indicated he had met Epstein occasionally.
Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders recognized Chomsky in a June 2024 post, calling him “one of the most important and groundbreaking intellectuals” of the last century who has helped countless individuals grasp the complexities of the current oligarchic landscape.
In a separate appearance alongside Chomsky, Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed that being associated with him was a significant honor for her.
Chomsky, who has advocated for liberal socialism, is also a vocal critic of U.S. foreign policy, which is a recurring theme in his work.
