Cooper Partners with Schiff for North Carolina Senate Campaign
Former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, a Democrat, is collaborating with California Senator Adam Schiff, who has had a long-standing rivalry with President Donald Trump, in a bid to flip North Carolina’s Senate seats.
In a fundraising email sent shortly after announcing his Senate campaign on Monday, Cooper expressed gratitude for Schiff’s support. He’s likely aiming to leverage his progressive track record as governor, which may resonate differently with North Carolina Democrats, who are adjusting their strategy during the campaign.
The email urged supporters to contribute, stating, “Would you consider splitting a contribution of $20 or another amount that feels right between my campaign and Adam Schiff?” Cooper reinforced his appreciation for Schiff’s involvement in this crucial race and sought additional backing from his supporters.
Ah that’s right. A moderate and popular governor has nothing to say, like having Sen. Adam Schiff Schill for the California dollar. pic.twitter.com/aejj0k1mqu

Schiff, known for his prominent role in the Democratic campaigns against Trump, recently faced accusations related to mortgage fraud. He publicly endorsed Cooper after the fundraiser, encouraging North Carolina Democrats with a message on social media: “Get ’em, Gov. America needs you.”
A Super PAC associated with Senate Republican leaders criticized Cooper for teaming up with Schiff, emphasizing Cooper’s rejection of certain legislation that would allow state law enforcement to collaborate with federal immigration authorities and also address child protection laws.
It’s no shock that supporters of certain policies are backing a campaign featuring Schiff and Cooper, but the narrative suggests that Cooper’s supposed moderate image is under scrutiny.
Additionally, outside groups have started a $200,000 digital ad campaign, branding Cooper as “radical Roy,” suggesting that while he might promote a moderate image, his record tells a different story.
Meanwhile, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley is anticipated to enter the state’s Republican primary soon, likely gaining support from Trump and aiming to dominate significant areas.
As of now, spokespeople for Cooper and Schiff have not responded to requests for comments from various news sources.
