Anti-Israel demonstrators at many American universities are consulting with, and sometimes training with, left-wing groups and activists with ties to supporting terrorism, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
Protesters at universities across the country consulted with organizations such as National Students for Palestine Justice (NSJP) and Samidoun: Palestine Prisoner Solidarity Network, which in some cases provided months of training, planning, and encouragement. according to In WSJ. Authorities and police have engaged pro-Palestinian protesters in recent days at schools including Columbia University and the University of California, Los Angeles, in some cases using tear gas and flash grenades and wearing riot gear. Columbia University students participated in a “teach-in” conducted by former members of the Black Panthers prior to the protests, educating them on how to deal with internal conflict in political movements and addressing Harlem gentrification and Israel and Palestine. “We took notes from elders, talked to them, and analyzed how the university has responded to past protests,” said Sueda Porat, a graduate student and organizer of the pro-Palestinian camp at Columbia University. “I did,” he told WSJ.
NSJP, which has more than 300 chapters across the country, has recently been involved in organizing a number of pro-Palestinian demonstrations on university campuses, according to WSJ. According to the WSJ, Columbia University held a “Resistance 101” training for students in March, which included a controversial speech celebrating the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel that sparked the recent conflict. Also included was a guest speaker from the Canadian-based organization Samidoun. The school opposed the event, banning it twice due to the organizers’ ties to terrorism, and suspending it several times because it was effectively student-organised.

“There’s nothing wrong with being a member of Hamas, being a Hamas leader, being a Hamas fighter,” Samidoun coordinator Charlotte Cates said at the event, according to WSJ. “These are the people on the front lines defending Palestine.”
Hamas’ first attack on October 7 last year killed around 1,200 people, and the group continues to hold both Israelis and Americans hostage. The US Department of State recognized Hamas has been a terrorist organization since 1997.
A group of law firms representing victims of recent Hamas attacks filed a lawsuit Thursday against NSJP and American Muslims for Palestine, alleging that the groups are trying to promote and advance Hamas’ goals. He claimed to be active.
NSJP and Samidoun did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
