Leftist Activists Damage Display of British Crown Jewels

Left-Wing Protesters Target Crown Jewels Exhibit

On Saturday, a group of left-wing demonstrators called Take Back Power staged a protest at the Tower of London, calling for higher taxes on high earners. Their approach involved vandalizing the display case housing the Crown Jewels, which they covered with apple crumble and custard.

Activists filmed their actions, with statements captured on video like, “Democracy has collapsed” and “Britain has collapsed. We have come to this crown jewel to take back power.”

The Metropolitan Police reported that four individuals were arrested in connection to the incident. “Officers collaborated with City of London Police and gardaí, and the suspects are now in custody on suspicion of criminal damage,” the police declared.

As a result of the protest, the Tower’s Jewel House was temporarily closed while authorities conducted their investigation. Fortunately, the glass enclosure seems to have shielded the Imperial Crown from harm. This crown, crafted in 1937, continues to be used for significant royal ceremonies, including the annual opening of Parliament.

This protest mirrors tactics used by other activist groups like Just Stop Oil, which have disrupted displays of historic European artifacts for their causes. Take Back Power has voiced demands for the government to establish an “emergency national house” empowered to tax wealthy individuals.

The group’s previous statements articulated their reasoning for such resistance, noting, “Our country is in crisis. The super-rich are getting richer, our children are going hungry, and fascism is upon us. The solution is clear: tax the rich to rebuild Britain.” They criticized politicians for being preoccupied with “arming genocide” and “pumping out fossil fuels,” claiming that action is urgent and necessary for the common people to regain power.

This occurrence follows closely on the heels of a daylight theft of some of France’s crown jewels from the Louvre Museum in Paris.
