Leftists Put Their Health at Risk to Challenge RFK Jr.

Tylenol and Autism Connection Explored

A few thoughts to share. It’s interesting, isn’t it, how people can slip back into risky habits without thinking much of it? I stopped taking Tylenol a long time ago after learning it could harm the liver. And, well, alcohol already does a number on liver health, so I figured I’d avoid adding to it.

So, I was caught off guard when I came across a TikTok of a pregnant woman casually popping what looked like candy-sized Tylenol. Really? It’s surprising, to say the least.

Tylenol and Autism

This week, Trump and RFK Junior released some findings suggesting a possible link between acetaminophen, commonly known by the brand Tylenol, and rising autism rates. But, here’s the kicker: they didn’t claim it was a definitive cause-and-effect situation, nor did they instruct expectant mothers to completely ditch Tylenol. Instead, they pointed out several studies related to this topic.

For example, research from the Harvard University School of Public Health and Johns Hopkins University suggests a correlation between Tylenol usage towards the end of pregnancy and both autism and ADHD diagnoses. The advisors urged cautious use, recommending that if Tylenol is needed, it should be taken in the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration, especially given the lack of safe alternatives for treating pain and fever in pregnant women.

So what’s the takeaway for parents? Despite the lack of conclusive evidence, it seems wise to use acetaminophen under the watch of a healthcare professional, balancing risks with benefits.

However, this announcement sparked a wave of reactions. Some in the mainstream media dismissed the claims, labeling them as unfounded or fitting into the “crackpot theory” category often attached to RFK. They seemed to overlook or reject the research cited during the press conference, such as that from the Nurses’ Health Survey II and Boston Birth Cohort. There’s also a Mount Sinai study that added to the discussion, stating that pregnant women should limit Tylenol use due to potential risks to fetal development. Interestingly, even back in 2013, a Reuters article raised concerns about excessive Tylenol use during pregnancy impacting fetal development.

With this latest development, online reactions certainly followed. Some people seemed to double down in their support of Tylenol use, flaunting it in TikTok videos, sometimes even in a way that looked recklessly defiant, which is… well, concerning.

Amid the chaotic feedback, another significant finding from the press conference didn’t get as much attention. Trump’s health advisors suggested that the underlying mechanisms of autism are still being studied, but one intriguing angle involves the central nervous system’s folate transport system, which may play a role in how effectively a child can absorb this vital nutrient. They mentioned a drug called leucovorin, which shows promise in helping some children with verbal communication challenges related to folate deficiency. This could be an important breakthrough for those struggling with autism.

So, it’s a mixed bag of evidence and reactions, with plenty to unpack.

Other Observations

And then, there’s another disheartening story in Texas regarding shooters leaving an anti-ice message on ammunition. It seems the violence doesn’t end there, with a recent incident involving a 13-year-old boy fatally shot—on a street named after another boy who had suffered the same fate.

It’s a grim reflection of our times, really. Just the feeling that something isn’t right overall.

Meanwhile, a Mets broadcaster, Gary Cohen, made waves by mentioning the Cubs in a way that caught some attention, linking back to Charlie Kirk’s pursuits. Just more nuances of ongoing discussions.
