Leon Slater Eyes TNA Championship at Bound for Glory
Leon Slater is gearing up for a major showdown this Sunday at Bound for Glory, where he will face Nic Nemeth for the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) World Championship.
Bound for Glory stands as TNA’s premier event each year. It’s a stage where memorable moments have helped shape the promotion’s history, providing wrestlers like Slater the chance to carve out their own paths in the wrestling world.
Slater is determined to seize the championship. If he triumphs, he’ll make history as the youngest TNA world champion at just 22 years old. On Thursday night during “Impact,” the British wrestler made it clear he was set on winning against Nemeth. According to TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella, there’s a rule preventing both wrestlers from making contact before their match.
“Nic, let’s be clear — this rule isn’t keeping me safe; it’s for you,” Slater declared. “When the time comes at Bound for Glory, I’m going to take that title and you’ll understand precisely why I’m known as ‘The Youngest In Charge.’”
Since joining TNA in 2023, Slater has rapidly ascended the ranks. He clinched the X Division Championship in May 2025 and almost broke the record for the longest reign, but Cedric Alexander dashed his hopes that same month.
Slater became a two-time X Division champion at Slammiversary after defeating Alexander in a dramatic Last Man Standing match inside a steel cage. However, his celebratory reign lasted only a few hours.
That evening, he informed Nemeth of his intention to exercise Option C, which allows Slater to trade his X Division title for a chance at the world championship, setting the stage for their bout at Bound for Glory.
Victory could place Slater among TNA legends such as Kurt Angle, Christian Cage, and Jeff Hardy, but overcoming Nemeth’s experience won’t be straightforward.
Currently, Nemeth is on his second championship reign, having claimed the title from Mike Santana at Slammiversary after winning the Call Your Shot Gauntlet. This match will also be featured at Bound for Glory, providing another competitor a shot at the world title further down the line.
Now, Nemeth has the opportunity to thwart Slater’s aspirations.
Bound for Glory will unfold at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, with the action kicking off at 4:30 p.m. ET, available for viewing on TNA+.
