The Libertarian Party chose its presidential candidate after a convention that featured a highly publicized speech from former President Donald Trump, and nominated a gay man with a history of left-leaning positions who supports open borders and drag queen story hours for children.
Both President Trump and independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke at the Libertarian Convention, but the party ultimately nominated party activist Chase Oliver as its presidential candidate.
“I did it! I’m officially a presidential candidate. But the job’s not done yet. Help me nominate my running mate, @terMaatMike,” said Oliver, who ran in a stalled 2020 Georgia Senate race.
“There is no better unifying candidate in this party. Now is the time to come together and move forward for freedom,” he added.

But others point to social media posts and videos that have already highlighted Oliver’s extreme positions and left many uneasy.
🚨 The Libertarian Party has nominated Chase Oliver as its candidate, who has publicly called for the following:
➡️ Transgender Children
➡️ Masks and vaccines mandatory
➡️ Men in Women’s Sports
➡️ Borders openAnd that’s exactly what he’s been calling for under the Biden administration.
Just kidding. This guy is nowhere near 3%. pic.twitter.com/Xa5fELQc32

In a February 2023 post, Oliver took issue with Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signing a bill banning medical “treatment” for transgender children.
“This puts the government between parents and the doctors who provide their health care. The options for young people in Mississippi have simply been limited by the Legislature, not by doctors or mental health professionals,” he said.
This means the government is intervening between parents and the doctors providing medical care.

In another post circulating on social media, Oliver appeared to defend drag queens who read to children at “Drag Queen Story Hours,” claiming that many of them are simply performance artists who “want to perform on different levels” and comparing them to the Wiggles. He later hypothesized that he would take his own children to a story hour led by drag queens:
Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver:
99% of drag queen story times are kid friendly, he says, and if he had kids he would bring them to the time and leave them there.

guess what?
I went to a Pride event that featured drag queen storytimes
And there was no “grooming” or sexual objectification.
Children are delighted to hear the story of the rainbow. When you actually look at something, you see the media’s scare tactics of the past.

In another video, Oliver made the case for open borders.
Earlier this year, Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver visited the border to campaign for an open border.
Despite everything that has happened to our country because of Biden’s policies, this man still advocates for more open borders. Naive. Stupid. Anti-American. pic.twitter.com/rAZvtVVZVw

Other posts indicate he supports wearing masks.

I finally found a KF94 mask that I find comfortable, and it even arrived with a mask/glasses strap so I don’t have to stuff it in my pocket or on the table when I sit down to eat.
Yes, I will wear a mask if it is required at a business or if distancing is not possible. pic.twitter.com/E3pmgG2e6K— Chase Oliver (@ChaseForLiberty) March 9, 2021
In a 2023 interview, Oliver concluded that the United States was “over-crime” and lamented the War on Drugs. In the same interview, Oliver said the 2024 elections would be “a unique opportunity for our party to break into the mainstream.”
“We have stood for self-expression, self-ownership and autonomy since we were founded in 1971, just two years after the Stonewall massacre,” Oliver said. Said.
“It took Democrats decades to catch up because they had to wait until it was politically popular. … If there’s one thing I know about LGBTQ people, it’s that we want to follow our own path and don’t want to be told who we should be or how we should live,” he continued.
Oliver also appears to be opposed to protecting fairness in women’s sports.
What I meant to say was “directly negatively impacted”
Trans sports bans and other laws across the country have negatively impacted the LGBTQ community as a whole.
And proponents of such bills try to demonize the community.

Some people questioned the Libertarian Party’s decision.
The Libertarian Party nominated Chase Oliver, who supports the following:
Masks and vaccines are mandatory, borders are open, boys are allowed to participate in girls’ sports.

The choice came after Trump appeared at the convention, argued with the crowd and simply told them to support him “if they want to win.”
If not, “keep getting 3% every four years,” he added.
