Liberty star urges stricter gun laws following Charlie Kirk's assassination

Natasha Cloud Calls for Stricter Gun Laws After Charlie Kirk’s Death

Natasha Cloud, a player for the New York Liberty, has expressed her deep concern regarding gun laws in the U.S., particularly after the tragic assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at a lecture at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

In the wake of this incident, Cloud took to social media to advocate for tougher gun regulations. Her frustration was evident as she acknowledged the costly consequences of gun violence. “I’m tiiirrreeeeed,” she posted on X. “We need laws surrounding firearms. No family should have to suffer a loss that could be prevented. Your Second Amendment was intended for different kinds of weapons, not military-grade firearms. We are the leading nation in gun-related fatalities.”

Cloud also highlighted a recent incident in the Denver suburbs where three teenagers, including a suspected shooter, were critically injured. Her messages emphasized that the anger following Kirk’s assassination should extend to all victims of gun violence. “It’s irresponsible to keep offering thoughts and prayers without actually advocating for change,” she remarked. “Gun violence has no boundaries—it doesn’t care about your political party or your wealth.”

Kirk, who was the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot around 12:20 PM during his talk on campus. He was just 31 years old. Law enforcement is actively searching for the perpetrator, and officials have reported recovery of weapons and good footage of the shooter.

In a show of support, President Donald Trump announced that Kirk would posthumously receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. “Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of freedom, and an inspiration to millions,” Trump stated. “Our thoughts are with his wife Erica and their children during this difficult time.”
