LIV Golf may run out of funds before the last events of 2026, executive reportedly states

Bryson DeChambeau claims he is hopeful about LIV Golf's future even with the loss of Saudi funding.

Future of LIV Golf in Jeopardy

There are a lot of uncertainties surrounding LIV Golf right now. However, one thing seems clear: they intend to proceed with the 2026 season as planned. That said, a recent report suggests that might not be so straightforward.

Back in April, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced it would cease funding for separated golf leagues after this season. Even with just a few events left on the calendar, it looks like LIV Golf might run out of money before they can finish the tournaments.

An executive associated with one of LIV Golf’s key partners indicated that “the rest of the tournament is in jeopardy.”

Adding to the mystery, LIV Golf’s next scheduled event won’t take place until July 23-26 in the UK.

Now that Saudi Arabia has openly stated they’ve completed their funding for the league, and with over a month having passed without any events, there’s quite a bit of time for significant changes to unfold.

Reports from early 2026 highlighted that LIV Golf was spending roughly $100 million a month during 2024 and 2025. Furthermore, PIF Governor Yasir Al Rumayyan purportedly approved a capital investment of $266.6 million for LIV’s fifth season, which begins in 2026.

In total, PIF is said to have invested over $1 billion into LIV Golf in 2021, 2022, 2024, and 2025. With the additional $266 million planned for the new year, along with increased season prize funds, their total investment could hit around $6 billion by late 2026.

There’s a lot of uncertainty, as the same executive noted, “I don’t think anyone really knows. LIV Golf does not know if or when PIF will stop their funding.”

Interestingly, LIV Golf hasn’t responded to inquiries regarding this matter.

This year, they had to cancel an event scheduled for New Orleans, which has created some schedule delays, though the circumstances around that cancellation were quite peculiar.

Reportedly, the decision to cancel the New Orleans tournament was made to avoid the summer heat in Louisiana. However, it seems rather puzzling since the event had been on the calendar for quite some time. Apparently, they were aware of the heat concerns.

Initially, Louisiana was involved in discussions to postpone the New Orleans tournament until LIV could sort out its financial situation.
