Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin refuted allegations of genocide in Gaza during a Senate hearing on Tuesday, the Daily Wire reported.
At a Senate hearing, Mr. Austin dismissed claims of genocide in the Gaza Strip during the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Arkansas, challenged Austin on the accusations against him and Israel. Austin said there is no evidence to suggest that a genocide occurred. according to On the Daily Wire.
“There is no evidence that genocide was caused,” Austin said. “So it’s a no. Israel is not committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. There is no evidence of that.”

Austin’s comments contrast with previous statements by CIA Director William Burns and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, who did not directly address questions about Israel’s actions against Palestinians in March, the newspaper said. Austin also tweeted about an exchange with Israeli Defense Minister Yov Gallant that focused on increasing humanitarian supplies to Gaza and protecting aid workers.
