Lockheed Martin Increases Missile Production Threefold as New Munitions Facility Begins Construction

Lockheed Martin Breaks Ground on New Munitions Center

Lockheed Martin has recently started construction on a new facility known as the Munitions Acceleration Center in Camden, Arkansas. The goal here is to equip American workers with the means to manufacture the most sophisticated missile systems in unprecedented quantities.

The facility, sprawling across 2.2 million square feet on over 2,400 acres, will utilize advanced manufacturing techniques, robotics, and digital twin technology. This integration aims to enhance production efficiency with higher precision and reliability.

A Significant Investment

This marks the start of a much larger initiative. Over the next three years, Lockheed Martin plans to invest billions to build and upgrade more than 20 facilities across states including Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Massachusetts, and Texas. These efforts will include new production lines, enhancements to existing buildings, and the implementation of cutting-edge manufacturing tech to satisfy urgent requirements from the Department of Defense and allied nations.

When looking at the bigger picture, these plans will increase Lockheed Martin’s military production capabilities by over 40 percent, adding more than 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing space, with another million already in the works to meet rising demands.

Since 2016, there’s been a significant uptick in ammunition production—over 220%. Lockheed Martin shows no signs of slowing down, continuing to prioritize innovation and speed.

Job Creation in America

These financial commitments are expected to create tens of thousands of jobs for American workers. Specifically, since 2016, the production workforce at Lockheed Martin has grown by over 60% and is projected to increase another 50% by 2030.

Focus on Supply Chain Resilience

The production levels are heavily influenced by the supply chain dynamics that support them.

Lockheed Martin has partnered with over 13,000 suppliers to develop a dual-sourcing strategy, focus on in-sourcing critical components, and implement real-time supply chain monitoring to proactively address potential bottlenecks.

Recently, more than 200 domestic and international suppliers convened at an Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) summit hosted by Lockheed Martin. The aim was to align production objectives and bolster cooperation within the industrial sector.

The underlying message was straightforward: capability and coordination are vital for meeting today’s security needs.

Commitment to America

Lockheed Martin’s investments are directly channeling resources into American jobs, industry, and security, generating a wealth of high-quality opportunities in manufacturing, engineering, and skilled trades.

These initiatives will help ensure that the U.S. and its allies are equipped with the proven capabilities required to safeguard people, infrastructure, and freedoms globally.
