Lori Vallow Daybell Sentenced to Two Life Sentences
Lori Vallow Daybell, often referred to as the “Doomsday Mom,” received two life sentences in Arizona on Friday for her role in a conspiracy to kill her estranged husband and another family member.
The 52-year-old has already been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of her two youngest children, 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Barrow and 16-year-old Tyree Ryan, along with the murder of a romantic rival.
This latest sentencing followed her conviction earlier this spring in Arizona for plotting to kill her then-husband, Charles Vallow, and her niece’s ex-husband, Brandon Boudreau.
Prosecutors claimed she orchestrated the plot alongside her brother, Alex Cox, who confessed to killing Charles Vallow in July 2019. He was also implicated in an attack on Boudreau a few months later, although that attempt did not succeed.
According to the prosecution, Vallow Daybell sought to eliminate her ex-husband just four months after filing for divorce, allowing her to marry Chad Daybell, who had been her boyfriend at the time.
Charles was shot while picking up his son at Vallow Daybell’s residence near Phoenix, as reported by law enforcement. Authorities allege that Boudreau later suspected the two of being involved in Charles’s murder.
In a troubling turn of events, just three months following Charles’s death, Boudreau was shot at while in his car in Phoenix, though he was not harmed.
Unlike her previous trial in Idaho, Vallow Daybell represented herself during the two Arizona trials, despite a lack of legal experience.
Her zealous religious beliefs, which led her to hold strong convictions about evil spirits, had reportedly influenced those around her, complicating the situation further. Following her sentencing in Arizona, she is expected to return to prison in Idaho.
In a separate matter, she and Chad Daybell married in November 2019, shortly after both had lost their previous spouses. Vallow Daybell’s children were last seen in September of the same year. Chad has since received a death sentence for the murders of Vallow Daybell’s two children and his own wife, Tammy.
