Los Angeles Firefighter Tells Mel Gibson It Was ‘Surprising’ to Run Out of Water So Early

Los Angeles firefighters battling the area's devastating fires told Mel Gibson they were not informed that the county's reservoirs were running dry, and that water ran dry during the early stages of the firefighting effort. “It's amazing,” he said.

“None of us were aware of any water issues, including the reservoir,” said an anonymous firefighter.

Mr Gibson asked if the team had been informed that “the reservoir was empty”. The respondent answered no, adding that there was water at first, but it ran out “pretty quickly.”

“It's not unusual to lose water in a gunfight, but I was surprised early in the fight,” the firefighter said, to which Gibson replied: And no one told you? That's crazy. ”

Mel Gibson later toured the remains of his Malibu home, most of which was destroyed in the fire.

The actor said he's okay because he's trying to “look forward” and not backward. When asked about his Academy Award-winning work, brave heartthey were stored elsewhere and were not affected by the fire, he said.

As Breitbart News reported, the vital Pacific Palisades Reservoir was shut down and emptied when wildfires swept through the area, devastating communities.

The Santa Ynez Reservoir is connected to the Los Angeles water system and was closed for repairs at the time of the fire, which authorities say took 117 million gallons of water from the area.
