Update on Rams Player Alaric Jackson’s Legal Situation
Alaric Jackson, an offensive lineman for the Rams, won’t face criminal charges at this moment concerning allegations of a sexual relationship with his pregnant girlfriend.
Ivor Pine, a representative from the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, stated on Tuesday that prosecutors have opted not to file charges against Jackson “at this time.”
The woman involved initially sought a restraining order against Jackson back in June. She claimed to be pregnant with his child.
“This matter has been assigned to a City Attorney hearing, which serves as a pre-filing diversion instead of pursuing misdemeanor charges for eligible individuals,” Pine explained.
“While there are currently no charges, the case remains active within the statute of limitations and could be reviewed again if new information arises.”
Interestingly, Jackson’s teammate Puka Nacua experienced a similar outcome regarding a different incident earlier this year. The City Attorney’s Office characterizes these hearings as “informal proceedings meant to address misdemeanors without criminal prosecution,” aiming to find alternative solutions in cases where prosecution might not be suitable.
Back in June, Jackson was arrested following an incident with his pregnant ex-girlfriend during a dispute over a phone at a mansion in West Hills, which could have resulted in misdemeanor charges.
The woman had secured a temporary restraining order against Jackson on June 10, but her attorney recently requested that it be lifted, leading to a swift resolution of the case.
Since joining the Rams in 2021, Jackson has made headlines recently for signing a $57 million contract extension with the team.
