In fact, love might not be the best word to describe one of Keira Knightley's most iconic movie scenes.
The celebrated actress was just 17 years old when she joined the star-studded ensemble cast of the 2003 romantic Christmas movie “Love Actually,” which has since become synonymous with the holiday season.
Despite her popularity, Knightley admitted that she doesn't remember much from being on set.
“Most of my movies I've never seen or I've only seen once, so it's nothing against 'Love Actually.'” Everyone expected it when it was released. “That's great because it didn't do as well as it did, but after three or four years, all of a sudden, it kind of took on a life of its own,” she said. “This movie was the only movie I had, and then I was watching this movie. The problem is, I was in this movie for about five days. I'm 17. I actually don't remember the movie at all because I was so old.

The film weaves a cast of characters through various love stories, with newlyweds Juliet and Peter played by Knightley and Chiwetel Ejiofor, respectively. Their wedding is filmed by Peter's attendant Mark (played by Andrew Lincoln), who is secretly in love with Juliet.
In the now iconic scene, Mark shows up at Juliet's door with cue cards and declares his love for her. Unbeknownst to his friend Peter, Mark stands outside the couple's front door with Silent Night playing on his boombox and tells Juliet how he really feels by reading the card.

The scene hasn't aged well, with many acknowledging an odd air of inappropriateness, which Knightley remembers feeling on set and calling out to director Richard Curtis.
“I'm a bit like a stalker. do Remember that,'' Knightley said of the shoot. “My memory is that Richard, who is now a very dear friend of mine, and I were acting out that scene and he said, 'No, that's what you're looking at.' “And I had to redo the face to make him look less creepy,” she added.

In 2023, Richard gave an interview to The Independent in which he acknowledged the inherent strangeness of the scene.

I mean, about seven years ago, I was trying to get an interview with someone and they said, “Of course, we're primarily interested in the stalker scene,” and I said, “What kind of scene is that?” he said. ?'And I was kind of educated on that movie,'' he says, adding, “All I can say is that there were a lot of intelligent people involved in this movie at the time, and I We had no idea it was a stalker scene.”
