A woman returned from the Bahamas with only a few items belonging to her missing mother.
Carly Aylesworth, 28, is searching for answers regarding her mother, Lynette Hooker, who vanished mysteriously two weeks ago while on a boat trip. Instead of the clarity she sought, Carly left the island with only a few personal items. “I took a headband, her ‘L’ necklace, which her grandmother made for her, and a picture frame I had given her,” she shared.
On her flight back to Lowell, Massachusetts, Carly kept the L-shaped charm close, visibly emotional as she remembered her mother.
Dedicating two days to retracing her mother’s last known movements, Aylesworth grew increasingly suspicious of her mother’s husband, Brian Hooker, suggesting that he wasn’t fully honest about the events surrounding Lynette’s disappearance.
“I’ve been following in their footsteps since that day, but it only makes the story seem sketchier,” she noted in a recent update on her GoFundMe page aimed at supporting the search for her mother or giving her a proper farewell.
She expressed a desire to return to the site soon—not just to honor her mother’s memory, but to uncover the truth of what happened. “Visiting that location was really tough,” she admitted, describing it as “eerie” and shared how she cried throughout her visit to the yacht where her mother went missing, as well as the bar where Lynette and her stepfather had drinks prior.
A bartender at the Abaco Inn, among the last to see Lynette, shared insights that echoed Carly’s doubts regarding Brian’s account of the events that night. He remarked on inconsistencies regarding the timeline and circumstances of Lynette’s disappearance.
According to Brian, Lynette accidentally fell from their 8-foot dinghy while they were retracing their route back to their yacht amidst rough waters. Since then, Lynette has not been seen.
After being taken into custody on April 15 in connection with the incident, Brian was released shortly after due to a lack of evidence against him. He has denied any involvement in his wife’s missing status.
As the search entered its 17th day, the couple’s yacht remained docked at the harbor. Carly had shared that her discussions with police were extensive, lasting around three hours. Authorities assured her they were actively investigating.
The Royal Bahamas Police Service has yet to respond to inquiries.
