Trump Critiques Fox News Over Polling Bias
President Donald Trump has expressed his frustration with Fox News, claiming the network exhibits a bias against him. He stated that “MAGA HATES Fox News,” following a recent poll that suggested his approval rating regarding border policies sits just above 50%.
“The Crooked Fox News Polls got the Election WRONG. I won by much more than they said I would and have faced bias for years. Their accuracy is consistently poor. This explains why MAGA HATES Fox News, despite their anchors being GREAT,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The poll indicated that 53% of those surveyed approved of Trump’s border policies. Yet, it seems only his border security polling was somewhat favorable.
“This has continued for years, but they never change the incompetent polling firm they use. Now, a new Fox News poll states I have just over 50% approval on the border, despite having a perfectly secured border. Last month, nobody was able to come in. Compared to 60,000 who entered during Sleepy Joe’s term last year, it’s baffling. I detest FAKE pollsters like these, but Fox refuses to update their discredited pollster!” he added.
While Trump’s border security figure appeared somewhat promising, overall disapproval ratings for his performance are concerning. Approvals are low: 54% of respondents did not favor his job overall, 57% disapproved of his foreign policy, 64% expressed discontent over inflation, and 58% disapproved of the economic situation.
Beacon Research/Shaw & Company—often viewed as moderate or even slightly left-leaning—conducts these polls for Fox News. Although Fox claims the collaboration aims to ensure credibility, many might question the neutrality of the results they provide, especially given that the Democrat-related side tends to skew the overall data leftward.
Fox News maintains that its polls are directed jointly by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research to balance perspectives.
Interestingly, the Fox News poll also surveyed opinions on Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” finding that 59% of respondents disapproved of it.
This particular poll was conducted from June 13th to 16th. Interestingly enough, a prior poll by the same group, before Joe Biden’s exit from the 2024 presidential race, showed Biden ahead of Trump—further suggesting the leftward leaning of the Fox News/Beacon Research partnership.
