Controversy Surrounds Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner

Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner has mostly steered clear of media interviews following a series of scandals.

The presumed Democratic nominee found himself embroiled in controversy over the weekend after it was reported that he had sent explicit messages to at least six women during his marriage. Following the revelation, Platner has continued to make public appearances at rallies but has avoided engaging with the mainstream media.

After the initial report emerged, Platner reportedly canceled a scheduled phone interview on Sunday. His team had indicated they were too busy for his scheduled appearance in Maine. Sources stated that an interview offer was effectively rescinded following the scandal’s disclosure.

Interestingly, despite the ongoing cheating allegations, Platner still maintains an account on an anonymous app, “Predator’s Paradise.”

On Sunday, his staff restricted him from interacting with reporters as he exited a rally. During the same timeframe, a media host claimed Platner’s team retracted their planned interview. Platner’s wife, Amy Gartner, released a video defending both him and his campaign.

“If she brought it to the campaign and explained the situation, that’s not gossip. Graham was supposed to be on the show, but his team pulled out,” the host noted. Platner’s campaign, for its part, rejected these claims, labeling them “completely inaccurate” and asserting they were merely an effort to attract attention.

Despite all of this, Platner has remained reticent in addressing reporters’ questions, even when approached after a meeting with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. A reporter asked, “Mr. Platner, are you here to calm the waters?” but received no answer as he got out of his car.

Platner did, however, make some comments to local news outlets, where he criticized mainstream media for focusing on sensational stories rather than substantive political issues. “It doesn’t surprise me that the establishment media doesn’t want to discuss what really matters in this race,” he stated, emphasizing that they prefer to spread gossip.

In addition to the current controversy, Platner has faced past scandals involving inflammatory comments on social media and a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol.
