Major League Baseball legend Steve Garvey narrowly edged out Representative Adam Schiff in California’s Senate primary.
As of Wednesday morning, Garvey, a 10-time MLB All-Star, had received more than 5 million votes, about 85% of his expected return, and was leading Schiff by an incredibly narrow margin of just 4,801 votes. .
“As California’s votes are counted, it is clear that our message of unity, common sense, and compassion will resonate across the state,” Garvey said. “We are deeply honored by the confidence and support shown in these preliminary results.
Despite millions of dollars spent against Garvey in the state’s most expensive U.S. Senate primary, Garvey’s trajectory remains competitive to finish in first place.
