“Especially in the first half of the debate, Vance was much more agile than the nervous Tim Waltz. However, as the debate progressed, Vance stumbled on two issues, abortion and the 2020 election, and his oratorical could not salvage the extremely unappealing content he had worked with,'' wrote Josh Barro, author of the newsletter Very Serious.
“The waltz won,” wrote Times columnist Charles M. Blow. “You could tell he was a teacher because he had clearly done his homework. Anyone who was afraid of Vance rolling on them could breathe easy.”
“Nobody was really in control,” said Matt Labash, a writer for the newsletter.
“But I have a slight advantage over Walz because Vance embarrassingly soft-pedaled on January 6th and Trump posted the following on Truth Social during the debate: ” Be more careful!
