Most people think President Joe Biden is a ‘weak’ leader, new poll finds economist/YouGov found.

Overall, a majority (66%) perceive Biden as at least a somewhat weak leader. Of those, 46% said he was a “very weak” leader. Only 22% said Biden was a “somewhat” strong leader, and just 11% said he was a “very” strong leader.
Additionally, 30% of Democrats view Biden as at least a somewhat weak leader, while 96% of Republicans agree. Seventy-five percent of independents also consider Biden to be at least somewhat of a weak leader, with 48% saying he is a “very” weak leader.
The survey asked former President Donald Trump the same question and found that a majority (56%) perceived him to be at least somewhat of a strong leader. Of those, 36% considered him “very” strong.
As expected, most Democrats disagree, with 77% viewing Trump as at least somewhat a weak leader, compared to 94% of Republicans and 54% of independents who view Trump as at least somewhat strong. I considered him a leader. Notably, a majority of Republicans (74%) viewed Trump in particular as a “very” strong leader.

The poll is consistent with other polls showing Trump leading Biden in most key battleground states, months before the highly anticipated 2024 election.
For example, the latest Morning Consult/Bloomberg News poll shows Trump ahead of Biden and third-party candidates in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, and Wisconsin, and ahead of Michigan. Both candidates lined up.
