Male, 62, who allegedly distributed child pornography worked as school district counselor for special-needs children

A Florida man accused of distributing child pornography worked as a school district counselor for special needs children.

Miami-Dade Police say their investigation into 62-year-old Robert Lee Turner is ongoing. Receive a tip Police said Turner was distributing two videos containing child sexual abuse material.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply troubled by these disturbing allegations.”

Police attempted to execute a warrant at Turner’s home, but Turner allegedly tried to delay the investigation by barricading himself in the bathroom.

As a result, police arrested him and charged him with resisting arrest.

During the investigation, police discovered Turner allegedly sent two child sexual abuse videos to around 50 internet users. In the charging document, police described the videos in disturbing detail and said Turner allegedly responded to one of the videos by commenting, “That looks delicious.”

He was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on five counts of child pornography/sexual conduct with a child and two counts of sexual conduct with a child.

Turner appeared in court Tuesday with visible injuries and wearing a safety smock. A judge set bail at $28,000 but said if released, Turner would be subject to house arrest and a GPS monitor. Turner was also ordered to have no contact with his children and would only be allowed to use the internet to consult with his lawyer.

The district released a statement indicating Turner had been fired without disclosing what position he held: “Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply troubled by the disturbing allegations made against this individual. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. As such, this individual’s employment with the district has been terminated, and he will not be able to seek future employment with M-DCPS.”

But Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin He told WSVN-TV “Robert Lee Turner is a counselor for Miami-Dade Public Schools. He rotates through schools throughout the district and works with many children. What’s even more disturbing is that he was a counselor for children with special needs, who tend to be some of the most vulnerable of our youth.”

Mehta has deleted Turner’s Instagram account.
