Man accused of inappropriately touching a passenger and their meal on a flight

A man facing allegations of inappropriately touching a female passenger and interfering with her food on a flight to the Gold Coast is set to appear in court on Monday.

The incident reportedly occurred during an evening flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast on February 4th, involving a 41-year-old woman.

According to the Australian Federal Police (AFP), the man is accused of placing his hands on the woman’s inner thighs during the flight. After landing at Gold Coast Airport, he was apprehended by police.

He now faces a charge of indecent conduct, which carries a potential penalty of up to seven years in prison.

The man is expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

Detective Principal Scott Mueller from the AFP emphasized that all passengers should feel safe while traveling.

“Travelers at airports and on airplanes are protected by Australian law. If there’s evidence suggesting someone has committed a criminal offense, we will act,” Principal Mueller stated.

He added, “This alleged incident should remind everyone that obscene behavior will not be tolerated at our airports and in our aircraft.”

Those in need of police assistance at the airport or wishing to report an incident are encouraged to reach out via the AFP airport hotline.
