New details reveal what led a 24-year-old North Carolina man to allegedly bring a gun onto the North Carolina State University campus in September, according to a search warrant released Monday.
Zachary Olson, 24, of Cary, was arrested on Sept. 9 when police responded to a call about a man waving a handgun in the air near the Chipotle restaurant on Hillsboro Street and had a gun on school property. He was charged with a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Laurie.

When the students asked why, Olson pulled a small black handgun from his waistband, brandished it and said he was going to “teach them a lesson,” the warrant states.

University police said Olson then walked toward fraternity court.
Nearby police found Olson on Dan Allen Drive and took him into custody. According to the warrant, Olson allegedly admitted to the officer that he asked about the fluffy house and the gun ownership.
Officers removed a loaded Ruger Max 9 from the man's waistband, along with the gun's magazine and several rounds, according to the warrant.
State prosecutors said Olson had purchased the gun the day before, WRAL reported.

According to the warrant, Olson allegedly told police during questioning that he wanted to seek “vigilante justice” against the rapist at his college fraternity. When asked by the officer if he intended to kill someone, the man answered “yes,” then changed his answer to “no,” according to the warrant.
WRAL also reported that Olson told the students that night that he felt the pain of sexual assault victims and that he was “misguided and stupid.” He claimed that he once burned himself with a match to “experience the pain of a sexual assault victim.”

North Carolina State Police confirmed to Fox News Digital that Olson is not affiliated with the university.

Olson's arrest record also listed his employer as the Wake County District Attorney's Office. WRAL News reached out to the district attorney, who confirmed that he was a part-time intern that began in mid-August, but the internship has since been terminated and he is no longer working in the office.
