A 33-year-old man who came to the United States illegally has been charged with murdering his 26-year-old wife, according to a post. duPageCounty.govIt shows the man stabbed the woman multiple times and “nearly nearly decapitated her.”
“DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Carol Stream Police Chief Don Cummings announced today that before Judge Joshua Dieden pretrials a Carol Stream man sentenced to 26 years in prison for the murder of his wife. In a post dated April 4, she wrote, “Elderly Maricela Simon Franco, who was involved in a domestic altercation in her apartment,” and added, “Baltazar Perez-Estrada. , 33, appeared in court this morning charged with five counts of first-degree murder.
DuPage County is located in Illinois. According to the post, the man went to the police station and reported the stabbing to authorities.
“At approximately 11:30 a.m. on April 1, 2024, Perez-Estrada entered the Carol Stream Police Station and reported to authorities that he suspected he had stabbed his wife. During the investigation, authorities learned that Perez-Estrada and Franco were together in the apartment and had gotten into an argument at around 10 p.m. the previous day. The altercation allegedly turned physical, resulting in Perez-Estrada stabbing Franco. “She was struck dozens of times in the head, neck, body and hands, nearly decapitating her. She was pronounced dead at the scene,” the post said.
The post indicates that the man recently entered the country illegally. “Authorities also learned that Perez-Estada resides in Mexico and entered the United States illegally approximately two weeks ago. He has been charged by the U.S. government with criminal alienation and has a future court date set. The couple had two minor children, both of whom were present at the scene of the alleged murder.”
