Incident In Florida Parking Lot Leads to Fatal Shooting

A 77-year-old woman found herself in a precarious situation in the parking lot of a veterinary clinic in Florida early Monday morning, just before 4:30 a.m. Reports indicate that a man attacked her there, as noted by investigators.

This particular woman was at the Macclenny veterinary clinic because of her regular volunteer work, where she feeds community cats at various local business locations. Lt. Dave Mancini of the Baker County Sheriff’s Office mentioned this to a local news outlet later that day.

“We usually don’t have things like that happen here,” Mancini remarked on the unexpected violence.

He also shared that both deputies and local residents know the woman well due to her dedication to animal rescue efforts.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of gunfire. According to the accounts, the elderly woman fired her weapon in an act of self-defense against her assailant.

The individual accused of the attack was identified as Alvin Tyrone Tisdale, a 57-year-old from Macclenny. Sadly, he was transported to UF Health in Jacksonville but later succumbed to the injuries he sustained.

The sheriff’s office informed the media that the woman had swiftly called 911 to report the shooting and has since been cooperating with ongoing investigations. No arrests have followed as the case continues to be looked into.

Staff members at the veterinary hospital arrived for work post-incident but did not witness the altercation itself.

The local community expressed shock and concern over the event, yet many were grateful that the elderly woman had managed to protect herself. One resident, Todd McRae, shared, “It’s unfortunate for sure, but I’m glad she was able to defend herself.”

Another local, Samuriah Major, echoed a similar sentiment, stating, “While it’s sad for everyone involved, I think everyone should have the right to defend themselves in situations like that, especially considering the reality of domestic violence today.”

If anyone has information regarding the incident, they are urged to reach out to the sheriff’s office at 904-259-0251 or submit an anonymous tip to First Coast Crime Stoppers at 866-845-8477.
