Man charged after using hidden cameras to watch dogsitter, other women: Report

kansas city star report An Indiana man is accused of installing a hidden camera disguised as an alarm clock to monitor a woman without her consent.

Kristan Peter Leavell now faces two counts of voyeurism after authorities say he filmed his dog sitter and possibly other women without their knowledge using a hidden camera. This fact came to light after the probable cause affidavit was released.

The investigation into Leavell began in the summer of 2022, when a woman who had hired him to watch her dog called police about suspicious activity in her home. The woman went on to claim that there was a red dot in the middle of the two alarm clocks.

The victim also told officers that he noticed several hidden cameras installed during his stay at the home. Cameras were placed in the living room and bedroom areas, and after she accessed his iPad, she allegedly discovered that the device contained nude photos of herself. Second report.

The woman eventually confronted Leibel, who was traveling to Los Angeles, about the camera. He claimed that only his deceased son had access to the account and that cameras were installed there for security purposes.

She later returned to collect money to watch Leibel’s dog, only to discover that all digital data, including nude photos, had been erased from her iPad.

Authorities in Fishers, Indiana eventually executed a search warrant on Leibel’s home. They collected boxes filled with iPads, cameras and cell phones. Officers said they found “multiple files spanning over 30 minutes, saved under different women’s first names.”

The Kansas City Star reported that a woman who identified herself as Leavell’s “life coach” told police that Leavell had “16 women with whom he had sexual relations and five people with whom he watched his dog.” He reportedly admitted to the police that he had made the recording.

The report said it is not clear from court records why the charges were filed so recently when the crimes were committed in 2022. Leibel’s bail was set at $15,000.

It is unclear whether any other women have come forward in this case or whether they know they were recorded while at Leibel’s home.
