A woman is now dealing with a serious incident involving a man accused of pushing her 70-year-old grandmother at a metro station in Midtown. The suspect, a 37-year-old named Sherlock Alana, who has a lengthy criminal history, is currently held on Rikers Island with bail set at $45,000 for second-degree assault.
This incident unfolded at the Lexington Avenue/53rd Street station around 10:30 AM when police found the victim and inquired about her presence in the area.
The suspect reportedly shoved her against a wall and then knocked her to the ground. Parvidal expressed her disbelief about the way the situation was handled, questioning why someone like Alana would be released. She stated, “I mean, they have to do something about this. He’s trying to kill someone.”
Alana has a record of violence against women, having previously served nine months in prison nearly a decade ago for similar offenses at a subway station in Queens. His last arrest was in 2023 on robbery charges, adding to a total of nearly 20 arrests throughout his history.
