Man dies from bee attack while desperately trying to escape by driving through a neighbor’s yard

A man in Texas tragically lost his life after a swarm of bees attacked him while he was mowing the lawn. Authorities reported that despite his frantic efforts to escape, he ended up crashing into a neighbor’s front yard.

On April 27th, Stephen Daniel was tending to his yard near an abandoned building in Eastland’s Friendship Park. As he mowed, he inadvertently disturbed a beehive.

In a desperate bid to escape, Daniel jumped into his truck, but the bees followed him inside and continued to sting him. His attempt to flee resulted in him crashing onto Chris Cooper’s property, as reported.

Cooper recounted her experience, stating, “I was just about to call 911 because I saw him in someone else’s garden first. Then, I noticed a commotion.”

She added, “He was still trying to get away from the bees. He made it into the street, but then police arrived and realized he was literally being attacked by a swarm of bees.”

Terrifying footage from Cooper’s ring camera captured the moment as Daniel’s truck rolled onto her lawn.

At around 4:30 PM, an Eastland police officer responded to the scene, initially reported as a car accident, and noted that the driver was being swarmed by bees.

The department shared on Facebook that officers quickly moved Daniel away from the area and into a police vehicle to escape the ongoing attack. They called for an ambulance, but unfortunately, he stopped responding and his breathing ceased.

Despite efforts to revive him during transport to Eastland Memorial Hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries caused by multiple bee stings.

Reports indicate that Daniel died from circulatory collapse, underscoring that such incidents, while rare, are not as uncommon as one might think. The CDC notes that an average of 72 Americans die each year due to the stings from bees, hornets, and wasps.
