Stabbing Incident at Austin Coffee Shop
A man in a zombie costume reportedly stabbed two individuals at a coffee shop in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday night before fleeing in a pickup truck and crashing into another vehicle.
The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Shankar Temple Grace, who was subsequently apprehended after a search by the Austin Police Department (APD).
This unsettling event took place just before a comedy show was set to begin at The Buzz Mill, which functions as both a coffee shop and bar.
Authorities responded to what they described as a “disturbance hot shot,” which indicates a rapidly escalating disturbance posing an immediate threat to life or physical safety.
First responders discovered one victim with serious injuries and another with injuries that were not life-threatening. Both were transported to a hospital and were later reported to be in stable condition.
After the attack, the suspect fled the scene in his truck, speeding before colliding with an unoccupied autonomous vehicle, according to reports.
Officers conducted a search and found Grace on a walking trail approximately three miles away from where the incident happened.
At the time of the attack, he was wearing a Halloween costume, specifically described as a zombie, with makeup covering his face. Witnesses mentioned that he had caused a disruption in the bar prior to the stabbing.
Shankar Temple Grace was booked into the Travis County Jail and now faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, categorized as a second-degree felony.
