Double Shooting Incident in Texas
Two men lost their lives in a shooting in Texas on Friday night. The shooter claimed he was being chased, had his car interrupted, and was physically assaulted by them.
According to authorities from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the gunman insisted he acted in self-defense.
“It seems like the two men were out of control in the streets. Shouldn’t he be allowed to defend himself?” someone commented, highlighting the tension of the situation.
Deputies arrived at the scene following reports of a shooting around 8:45 p.m. on Greengate Drive, close to Spring Stubner Road. The first responders discovered two men with gunshot wounds in the 22100 block of Greengate Drive. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
The sheriff’s office stated that the shooter claimed the two men had been following him and attempted to stop him upon entering the area where the shooting occurred.
After the incident, all three individuals exited their vehicles, and the shooter alleged that the two men began kicking him and his car.
Sgt. Jason Brown noted that, “The shooter remained at the location and submitted to the responding officers.” He is currently collaborating with the investigation, as reported by the sheriff’s office.
The individuals who were shot have been identified as 57-year-old Timothy Underwood and 59-year-old Keith McDonald.
No charges have been filed yet, and the shooter is not in custody, but the investigation is ongoing and will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office.
When asked if the two men were armed, Sgt. Brown mentioned, “We don’t have any information indicating they were armed at this stage. The investigation continues.”
Reactions on social media following the incident were mixed.
- One individual commented, “They can still cause serious harm without being armed.”
- Another said, “If you were driving, wouldn’t you just escape instead of confronting them?”
- Yet another noted simply, “FAFO,” expressing a belief that the shooter had the right to defend himself.
- One user expressed doubt, wondering if they would have acted differently, suggesting that “self-defense doesn’t seem applicable here.”
