Man out on low bail after allegedly raping young stepdaughter has now murdered her, killed himself: Report

A Massachusetts man killed his stepdaughter and appears to have killed himself after being released on low bail for allegedly repeatedly raping her, police said.

The victim told investigators that Santana warned her, “Don’t be scared and don’t tell your mom.” Investigators also examined a diary in which the victim allegedly recorded the attack and shared it with her sister.

Police arrested Santana on the same day the girl made her allegations, and prosecutors charged him with six counts of child rape. Despite the swift police response and the heinous allegations against Santana, the U.S. District Court in Marden, Massachusetts, about five miles north of Boston, set bail at just $30,000, which Santana promptly paid.

As conditions of Santana’s release, the court ordered him to wear an ankle monitoring device and have no contact with his stepdaughter. He also is prohibited from having unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

The girl’s mother, Olena Wilson, immediately obtained a restraining order against Santana for her daughter and herself. “I am also concerned for my safety,” she said. [realized] “I don’t know this guy and I don’t know what he’s capable of in this situation.” Wilson I wrote it at the time.

Santana’s trial was originally scheduled for about a year from now, but the case was postponed again and again, eventually moving to July 29, 2024. Unfortunately, both the accused and the victim passed away before they could see the trial.

Last Thursday at around 4pm, police in Acton, Massachusetts received a shocking call that Santana, 49, had kidnapped his stepdaughter as she was walking home from school. A probation officer was able to quickly locate Santana in the parking lot outside an apartment building, as there was a cord around her ankle.

When officers arrived on scene, they quickly found Santana’s vehicle, inside which he and the girl were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds to the head. The girl was 16 at the time of her death, meaning she was 12 or 13 when Santana last raped her.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Criminal Division and Acton Police are continuing to investigate, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.
