Man rescued from bottom of 40-foot pipe says he has no idea how he got there

A man rescued from the bottom of a narrow, 40-foot pipe in Portland, Oregon, said he had no idea why he’d been trapped there for hours, authorities said.

Portland Fire Rescue responded to a call of a person trapped in a hole after people in a nearby building heard a man screaming for help. KPTV reported.

When rescuers arrived on the scene, they heard a man screaming from deep inside a 40-foot-deep ventilation pipe that runs from a nearby car park.

Authorities said the pipe was only about a foot wide.

Rescue crews were quickly able to extricate the man from the pipe.

According to Portland Fire Rescue, the man told rescuers he woke up in a hole and had no idea how he got there.

The man suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for examination.
