Incident at Protest in Westchester, Pennsylvania
Westchester police reported that a man was arrested on Saturday following a demonstration, where he allegedly possessed seven pipe bombs at his home.
The arrested individual, identified as 31-year-old Kevin Krebs, was taken into custody during a larger rally in Chester County that was part of nationwide protests against former President Donald Trump.
Upon confronting Krebs, officers stated they found he was carrying a firearm without the appropriate concealed carry permit. Court documents indicated that he owned a fully mounted Sig Sauer handgun, a knife, and ammunition.
Law enforcement had executed a search warrant at Krebs’s residence, where he reportedly lived with his brother. During the search, a bomb was discovered, prompting authorities to evacuate the area and call in a variety of support, including the FBI’s alcohol, tobacco, and firearms division, along with local law enforcement and bomb disposal teams.
According to reports, the bomb squad utilized robots to address the found pipe bombs, eventually identifying a total of seven suspected explosives. In Krebs’s vehicle, parked nearby the protest location, investigators also found an AR-15 rifle, a ski mask, a military helmet, and gloves.
When questioned, Krebs allegedly expressed that he intended to protest peacefully but felt the need to be prepared due to what he had seen on the news.
Initially released on bond, Krebs was re-arrested on Tuesday under charges that have not yet been publicly detailed. The investigation is ongoing.
