Florida Man Arrested After Taunting Sheriff on Social Media
A man in Florida has been taken into custody following a series of provocative social media posts aimed at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The apprehended individual, identified as 29-year-old Aaron Donta Johnson, managed to avoid capture while openly mocking law enforcement online.
In one particularly noteworthy post, Johnson questioned why the sheriff’s office had been unable to catch him after leaving his grandmother’s house. “It’s going to be too much fishing for why y’all didn’t catch me,” he wrote, suggesting that perhaps he should have lingered a bit longer.
His posts featured poor grammar and spelling, which seemed to amuse the sheriff and his department. They responded with a challenge of their own, indicating that they would, indeed, find him. “You’re being spoken like a real man. How to take responsibility for your actions,” the sheriff’s office bluntly replied, assuring Johnson that they would soon track him down.
Johnson, not backing down, boasted about evading capture, tagging the sheriff’s office with a cheeky, “#cometryagainrady.” The interaction escalated as he claimed that police wouldn’t be able to catch him on foot or even in a marked police car.
Eventually, Lakeland police took note of this online exchange. They accepted the challenge posed by Johnson and worked to locate him. He was subsequently arrested and brought to the Polk County Jail.
The police highlighted that despite Johnson’s attempts to flaunt his elusiveness, their efforts led to his ultimate arrest. “That little match is over today,” they announced, showcasing their determination to end the back-and-forth with Johnson.
Johnson’s history with law enforcement isn’t brief; it dates back to at least 2015, with multiple charges ranging from drug possession to domestic assault. He now faces additional counts, including violations of pretrial release conditions.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, known for his unique approach to crime, seized the opportunity to make an example out of Johnson. “You ruined the A-Aron!” the sheriff’s office quipped, referencing a popular comedy sketch, while also thanking the Lakeland police for their assistance.
