A man from Washington, previously convicted of multiple felonies, has been arrested again—this time, charged with shooting a teenager during what began as a neighborhood prank. The incident unfolded on February 28, when four teenagers were engaged in a playful water balloon fight from their car while passing through Tacoma.
One of the balloons struck the vehicle of 31-year-old Majeed Gerry, causing water to splash inside and soak him. In a swift, heated reaction, Gerry allegedly chased the teenagers down a dead-end street.
Once Gerry cornered the group, reports indicate he retaliated violently. According to court documents, he is accused of pistol-whipping one of the boys—specifically the one responsible for throwing the balloon. Following this, he shot the same teenager in the chest.
After the shooting, Gerry reportedly stole $100 from the group before fleeing the scene. Authorities arrived soon after, discovering four boys in their vehicle, with one suffering from a gunshot wound. Fortunately, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.
Police traced Gerry’s movements using surveillance footage, which linked him to the crime scene. He was apprehended on March 20. In court, he pleaded not guilty to various charges, including attempted murder and illegal gun possession, with bail set at $150,000.
It’s worth noting that Gerry is prohibited from owning a firearm due to his history of violent offenses, including assault and breaches of protection orders. Remarkably, before his departure from the courtroom, he addressed supporters, asserting, “Come and get me,” while being escorted by deputies.
