Stabbing Incident in Northern California
A man armed with a knife attacked a mother and daughter in a seemingly random act in Northern California, but a nearby sheriff’s deputy intervened, effectively ending the threat.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office shared a video on Friday that outlines the events of July 15.
‘Kudos to the deputy that [saved] the innocent victims’ lives by eliminating the threat,’ the department stated.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., the sheriff’s communications center received a report of a man causing a disturbance at a Sacramento Starbucks, located at Elkhorn Boulevard and Diablo Drive.
Employees indicated that the suspect was behind the counter, wielding a “kitchen knife.” Staff members took shelter in a back room as they awaited help from law enforcement.
However, when deputies arrived, the suspect had already left the location.
Not long after, a deputy spotted someone matching the suspect’s description walking along Diablo Drive.
The individual then entered an open garage on Diablo Drive, where the suspect attacked a 63-year-old mother multiple times as she attempted to enter her vehicle.
Her daughter, 26, heard the screams and ran to help. She managed to push the attacker off her mother, but he quickly turned his aggression towards her, inflicting several cuts and stab wounds.
The deputy who originally saw the suspect witnessed the assaults from the garage and shot at the suspect, hitting him.
More deputies arrived shortly after and provided lifesaving assistance to both victims and the attacker.
Emergency services arrived and pronounced the suspect deceased at the scene.
The two victims were taken to a hospital where they were reported to be in serious but stable condition.
The suspect has been identified as Faryeshyi Allahdin. Thankfully, no deputies were harmed during the incident.
Investigators believe that the attack was random, noting that there was no known connection between the victims and the suspect.
