Man with an extremely swollen face arrested after fight at Wichita golf course where a club was used as a weapon

A man from Kansas found himself spending the weekend in jail after a heated altercation at a golf course on Friday evening. This encounter resulted in him being taken to the local hospital before he was ultimately booked at the county jail.

Although he was the one arrested, he certainly wasn’t the only one involved in the fight. A snapshot from the jail shows his face looking quite swollen, which suggests he endured quite a bit of damage.

Scott Denning, 52, from Winfield, Kansas, was taken into custody early Saturday morning at the Sedgwick County Jail on charges including aggravated assault and battery, among others, according to reports.

Officers from the Wichita Police Department responded to a disturbance call at the Arthur B. Sim Golf Course around 6:20 PM on Friday. The investigation revealed that Denning had approached three men from Wichita to apologize for hitting an errant shot, which quickly escalated into an argument and then a physical confrontation.

It’s clear that Denning took some hits during this scuffle. His injuries were significant, but it seems he wasn’t the only one affected. Reports indicated that one of the Wichita men, 38 years old, was knocked unconscious during the altercation. The other two men, aged 28 and 52, were reportedly chased with a golf club, and one of them was struck in the head.

The police stated that Denning, armed with a golf club, pursued the other two men, managing to strike the older one in the head. So, it looks like the apology for that errant shot didn’t quite go as he might have hoped. After his hospital visit, Denning was booked into jail, where he remained under a $50,000 bond as of Tuesday afternoon. There haven’t been any other arrests, and the investigation is still ongoing.
