Las Vegas Neighborhood Experiences Gunfire Terror
A tranquil Las Vegas neighborhood turned chaotic when a shirtless man allegedly ran through the streets, firing an AR-style rifle at random houses. Surprisingly, no one lost their life, leaving many residents feeling a mix of shock and gratitude.
This alarming incident unfolded on July 19th at Yellowhammer Place in north Las Vegas. Authorities shared that security camera footage captured 39-year-old Daniel Lujan Jr. sprinting through the area with an AR-15-style rifle, repeatedly discharging it into nearby homes.
One homeowner, who preferred to remain anonymous, was able to record the disturbing event on their security camera. The footage reveals the gunman ringing the doorbell before turning to fire at a nearby residence.
The homeowner, a mother of a one-year-old, expressed relief that her family wasn’t home when the shooting began. “I really wish I hadn’t been home at that time, because I don’t know what would have happened,” she remarked, reflecting on the near miss.
She pondered whether anyone else attempted to open their door during the chaos. “I’d like to think that if we heard gunshots, we would have run upstairs, but luckily we weren’t there,” she added, visibly shaken. Several bullets struck her home, with one even penetrating the wall and hitting the kitchen.
Another neighbor, Ryan Adams, initially mistook the firearm for a water gun before realizing the true danger. “It wasn’t until he got closer that I thought, oh, this is an AR, he’s armed,” said Adams, still processing the surreal experience.
The homeowner also shared video footage showing the armed man darting down the street and firing carelessly at houses. The community remains in disbelief, as Adams noted, “The family is upset. We will process it for a few days.”
Police reported that the man resisted arrest before being taken into custody, only to later die at the hospital. The cause of death has not yet been revealed, but authorities indicated that he seemed to be under the influence of some substance at the time of the incident.
