This winner ended up empty-handed.
Pastor Kevin Frey, 64, could have cashed in his winning lottery ticket, but he forgot it inside a general store in Iowa.
“I was so excited and panicked that I left the ticket inside Casey’s and went out to my car and started calling everyone. First I called my wife, then everyone else.” says Frey. told the Iowa Lottery.
Frey bought his ticket there. chain storee Along North Lynn Avenueand won eight of the 14 top prizes in the “$500,000 Ca$h” scratch game.
The New Hampton, Iowa, resident was so excited that he nearly lost his chance at a windfall.
After the commotion, Frey realized for the first time that she didn’t have the ultimate relaxing ticket when one of her children asked for a photo of the winning ticket.
“Then I realized, ‘I don’t have that!’ It’s in the store! ” Frey said.
“Luckily, I was still in the parking lot of the Casey’s store, so I ran back inside and asked the employee for a ticket. She was so flustered that she forgot to give it to me first. So I finally landed on the right page.”
The lottery winner and his wife, Marian, who won the cash on Feb. 20, plan to use the winnings for long-term plans and move closer to family in Des Moines.
“This will go a long way, Frey told Newsflash. “Being able to share some of that with some of our family members and some of the charities that we support and have supported over the years. That would be fun.”
Frey isn’t the only previous lottery winner who forgot his winning ticket.

An Australian man recently panicked when he discovered his $1.8 million winning ticket was still in his trouser pocket while his washing machine was running.
“I forgot to take the ticket out of my pants and put it in the washing machine,” he admitted. “Five minutes later, I realized it and stopped the washing machine and went to get a ticket. Luckily, I was fine.”
