Mandatory ‘Climate Change’ Curriculum Begins in California Schools

California public schools will begin implementing mandatory climate change curriculum that is reportedly designed to indoctrinate the state's children when AB285, a law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom last year, goes into effect.

The Federalist reported: AB285:

Science classes for students in California will be adding new curriculum this year aimed at indoctrinating students about climate change from a far-left activist's apocalyptic perspective.

Last fall, the California Legislature assembly Bill 285 It would require all science classes in grades 1 through 12 to “focus on the causes and effects of climate change and ways to mitigate and adapt to climate change.”

Meanwhile, a barrage of apocalyptic climate commentary is helping to spread environmental anxiety among children. In December 2021, The Lancet reported study A team of nine researchers, including psychologists, environmental scientists, and psychiatrists, surveyed 10,000 people aged 16 to 25 in 10 countries about “climate anxiety” and their government's response to environmental issues. 75% felt that “the future is scary,” and 83% said that “humankind has failed to take care of the Earth.” The survey also reported that almost half said that “feelings about climate change are negatively impacting their daily life and functioning.”

It's unclear whether a counterargument, often scorned by Democrats as “nay-sayers,” will be offered.

In California, students returned to school amid a scorching heat wave that is typical for the state in late August and early September and is often cited as evidence of what used to be called global warming.

Steven Koonin, the Obama administration's climate official, said milder winters were more likely than hotter summers.
