Marc Benioff Voices Support for Trump and Calls for National Guard in San Francisco

Tech mogul Marc Benioff has recently expressed his support for President Donald Trump, stating he backs him “totally” and suggesting that the National Guard should be deployed to his hometown, San Francisco. “We don’t have enough police officers, so if the National Guard can help, I’m all for it,” he mentioned in an interview with The New York Times.

Benioff added, “I fully support the president. I think he’s doing a great job,” which seems to be quite a shift in his stance. His remarks came just ahead of the annual Dreamforce conference, and he lamented the need to pay for off-duty police officers every year to ensure security in the area.

In his comments, he assured, “If you walk through San Francisco next week, you’ll see police everywhere. That’s how it used to be.”

This newfound alignment with Trump is notable, especially considering Benioff’s past spending against various left-wing activist groups. His company, Salesforce, has gained attention for backing transgender issues.

Salesforce has reportedly contributed over $23 million to the Tides Foundation, a more progressive group, between 2022 and 2024 alone. Also, Salesforce initiated the “Pledge 1%” program, encouraging businesses to allocate a portion of resources to charitable causes, which has seen participation from around 9,000 companies.

Additionally, Salesforce has invested $1.5 million into the New Venture Fund, which has faced scrutiny for its alleged connections to controversial organizations. Beyond financial contributions, Benioff has used his platform to advocate for transgender rights and athletes, illustrating a complex mix of influences and priorities.

Recent developments have shown Benioff drifting toward Trump’s sphere since the 2024 election. Notably, he shared a dinner table with Trump during a state event hosted by King Charles last month, where he reportedly expressed gratitude for Trump’s efforts.

As for the White House, they haven’t responded to inquiries regarding the potential National Guard deployment. In August, Trump mentioned to reporters that Democrats have “destroyed” cities, specifically citing San Francisco as an example of urban decline, remarking, “We can wipe it out. We’ll wipe it out, too.”
