Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stated on Monday that nations that fail to strike a trade agreement with President Trump will “ultimately lose.”
The vocal far-right politician reinforced the viewpoint shared last week by the president’s son, Eric Trump.
The Trump administration has delivered inconsistent messages regarding whether Trump’s tariffs serve as initial moves in trade discussions, or if they “remain in place.”
“I don’t want to be the final country to negotiate a trade agreement with @RealdonaldTrump,” Eric Trump mentioned in a post on Thursday.
“The first party to negotiate holds the advantage – you will certainly face losses in the end,” he noted.
Greene shared an Eric Trump message on Monday.
“These are prudent words of counsel,” Greene stated.
“The rush has now begun,” she went on. “Do not be the last one. You will be significantly lost and it will not be necessary.”
Business leaders reported that over 50 nations reached out to the president following last week’s tariff declaration.
President Trump remarked on Monday that he has not contemplated lifting tariffs despite economic worries and a declining stock market that has fallen for three consecutive days.
Earlier that day, he warned of imposing a 50% tariff on imports from China. This represents a considerable escalation in the looming trade conflict between the two largest economies globally.
