President Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) engaged in a social media spat on Monday, following Greene’s recent interview on “60 Minutes” that seemingly upset the former president.
In the interview, Greene, who plans to step away from Congress after her term concludes in January, remarked that Republicans are “afraid” of not being aligned with Trump, fearing backlash on Truth Social. When asked by Leslie Stahl if she identifies as a MAGA supporter, Greene responded, “I’m America first.”
On Monday morning, Trump took to social media to criticize Greene directly.
“The only reason Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown (stress turns green into brown!) is bad is that she was spurned by the President of the United States (not the first time she’s been rejected, of course!). Too much work, not enough time, and her ideas have really deteriorated. She’s like a rotten apple! Marjorie is not America First, and no one could change their views that fast. The new perspective is from someone quite foolish,” Trump expressed in a lengthy post on Truth Social.
Greene responded by denying his assertions.
“I’m America first,” she reiterated in a post on X, complemented by an American flag emoji. “Thanks for your focus on this issue.”
Her post featured a graphic indicating that she had received no funds from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), alongside claims that she was “blaming Israel for committing genocide.” In contrast, the graphic highlighted that Trump had garnered millions in funds from pro-Israel interests.
Fox News Digital reached out to Greene’s office for further comments, but there was no immediate reply.
Prior to the interview airing, Greene had been vocal about her stance. In a post on X on Sunday, she alleged that Trump had been unwelcoming toward her after she supported Epstein survivors. She also mentioned that the president had not shown sympathy after she alerted him about threats to her adult son.
A White House official informed Fox News Digital that the message Greene referenced had been passed to the FBI.
