Mark Levin criticizes viral Gaza image as anti-Israel messaging

This disturbing image shows an 18-month-old Palestinian boy, Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawak, who appears to be suffering from severe malnutrition, his spine visibly protruding as he rests in his mother’s arms in Gaza.

It’s a hard-hitting photo that forces viewers to confront the gravity of the situation.

Major news organizations, including the New York Times, the Guardian, CNN, and others, have circulated this image, advancing the narrative that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is due to Israel’s actions.

Some argue that the context of the photo is misleading.

Mark Levin has criticized this portrayal, stating that the child was seriously ill from birth, not solely a victim of external conditions. He refers to the framing of these images as “disturbing propaganda.”

The plight of Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawak is indeed tragic, and it’s disheartening to see his condition used in this way to propagate a particular viewpoint regarding Israel’s role in Gaza’s suffering.

Levin notes that this photograph gained traction globally, being leveraged by Western and American media, as well as political leaders to accuse Israeli authorities of committing war crimes.

While it’s undeniable that Gaza faces issues like starvation, Levin asserts that Hamas bears significant responsibility, not Israel.

He recently highlighted comments from House Speaker Mike Johnson, who pointed out that Israel has supplied over 94,000 trucks worth of food intended for two million people, which has often been intercepted by Hamas, who, he claims, profited from this aid.

Johnson stressed that the UN must collaborate with Israel to ensure food reaches those in dire need, aligning with intentions from both the United States and the UN.

Levin supports Johnson’s claim that Hamas is to blame for the starvation, but he challenges the narrative of the UN’s role, suggesting that the UN is working alongside Hamas rather than effectively addressing the crisis.
