Baltimore Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey Meets President Trump
Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey attended an event where President Donald Trump spoke at Sparrows Point, just outside of Baltimore, on Tuesday. It was quite the experience for Humphrey and his teammates as they had the unique opportunity to ride in the president’s motorcade.
This encounter has even led the four-time Pro Bowler—yes, the Pro Bowl— to consider voting for the first time in his life. Kind of surprising, right?
The Ravens are gearing up for a Sunday night game against the Atlanta Falcons, but the media seemed more interested in Humphrey’s experience with the president than the impending match. Humphrey remarked that, while he doesn’t consider himself very political, he’s now planning to participate in the next election.
“It was a bit unexpected; that’s not how I thought things would go,” Humphrey commented about meeting Trump. “But when he asked if we wanted to ride with him, I couldn’t say no.” It’s pretty hard to turn down that kind of offer.
Humphrey described the ride in the president’s armored vehicle as “quite an experience.” He was then asked if attending the event reflected any political beliefs, which seems like a common question these days, as if it’s not okay just to enjoy meeting the President of the United States.
Humphrey went on to say, “Honestly, I haven’t voted before. I attempted to vote last time, but my absentee ballot never arrived.” He mentioned that he doesn’t hold any strong political beliefs, but he’s determined to cast a vote next time.
Other Ravens players at the event included kicker Tyler Loop, long snapper Nick Moore, and punter Ryan Eckley. It’s unclear whether this experience has motivated them to vote in the upcoming election.
