Martha Stewart Discusses End-of-Life Plans
Martha Stewart is contemplating her end-of-life arrangements. In a recent appearance on Sean Killinger’s podcast “50+ & Unfiltered,” she shared her plans regarding what will happen when her pets, specifically her horses, pass away.
“I plan to be composted,” Stewart stated. She elaborated, noting that during the passing of one of her horses, they carefully dug a deep hole in a designated area on her property. “We have a pet cemetery, and the horse was wrapped in a clean white linen sheet and very gently placed into a beautiful grave.” She expressed a certain longing, saying, “I want to go there.”
Stewart’s primary residence is a 150-acre farm located in Katonah, New York, where she keeps both livestock and horses. When Killinger inquired about the legality of her plans, Stewart brushed off concerns, emphasizing she would not be harming anyone. “It’s my property,” she insisted, clarifying that a traditional burial was not an option for her.
“You can’t have a coffin or anything like that,” she added with a firm tone. Stewart plans to undergo a process known as terramation after her death, which involves transforming human remains into nutrient-rich soil through a controlled natural decomposition method.
As outlined by the company promoting terramation, it serves as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional burial and cremation.
During the same podcast, Stewart also discussed her views on plastic surgery. She asserted that she would never undergo such procedures but left a sliver of ambiguity, saying there’s always a possibility. “I try to avoid going under the knife,” she noted. “If you take care of yourself properly, you can look good and feel good throughout your life.” At 84 years old, Stewart remains committed to looking her best.
Finally, she made a clear statement about public nudity. When asked whether she would ever be photographed nude, Stewart confidently replied, “No, I’m not good enough.” It seems that, even at her age and after a lifetime in the public eye, she maintains a humble perspective regarding her appearance.
