Martin County Sheriff Speculates How Alleged Assassin Knew Trump’s Schedule: ‘Is This a Conspiracy?’

Martin County Sheriff William D. Snyder said during an appearance on Newsmax that solving the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump won't be easy, and he openly questioned how the suspect knew Trump's schedule.

Snyder was at the scene Sunday when suspect Ryan Wesley Routh was taken into custody.

“He had the manner of a man returning from a Sunday picnic,” he said of Routh, describing the arrest. “His expression remained calm.”

“He didn't seem particularly upset. Imagine the interstate being closed off, helicopters overhead, guns and everything out there. He was OK, didn't say a word,” Snyder said, explaining that the would-be shooter was “totally going with the flow.”

That aside, he said uncovering a motive will be “key.”

“From a law enforcement standpoint, from an investigative standpoint, his motive is going to be key. They want to know what he was thinking. … Is this a conspiracy? Is this a lone wolf? Is he a front man for an organization? They've got their hands full. This case is not going to be easy to crack,” he said.

The host noted that President Trump's Sunday golf match was added to the schedule at the last minute. That being said, he questioned how the suspect knew that President Trump would be there.

“That's the $64 question,” Snyder said, calling it “very puzzling.”

“My understanding is that he drove a long way. He's not from here,” he said, explaining that he lives nearby and was not patrolling the area to check on Trump's whereabouts in case he showed up unannounced.

“I would ask that question. If I were the federal government, the first thing I'd want to know is what on earth happened to have Trump sit this guy down without first informing the public that he was on the golf course,” he said.

Despite the unanswered questions, Snyder said he has the utmost confidence in West Palm Beach Sheriff Rick L. Bradshaw and is “confident he has done everything in his power to keep former President Trump safe.”

“That being said, when you have the highest profile target on the planet doing something, it's time to go all in and pull out all the stops,” he said. “And knowing Rick Bradshaw, I would say that's exactly what's happening right now.”

As Breitbart News noted, Routh appears to be obsessed with Ukraine, has donated to the Democratic Party, and reportedly has a Biden-Harris bumper sticker on his truck.

“The rhetoric and lies exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC debate, and especially the ridiculous lawsuit designed to damage Joe and Kamala's political opponent, ME, have all taken our politics to a whole new level of hate, abuse and distrust,” President Trump said in response to Monday's second assassination attempt.

“Because of this communist left rhetoric, bullets are flying and things are only going to get worse!” he warned.
