Maryland man sentenced to 40 years after killing wife, hiding her body in shipping container

A Maryland man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering his wife and hiding her body in a shipping container.

Jean J. Pierre, 50, was convicted in May of second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Nerlande Foreste, 41.

According to Fox 5 DC, Pierre killed Foreste in August 2019 at his Rothbury Lane home in Montgomery Village, Montgomery County, and dumped his body in a shipping container into a trash can.

Pierre admitted in court that he stabbed her and threw her body in the trash after first filing a missing person’s report.

Foreste’s body has not yet been found.

This was Pierre’s second marriage. His first wife and several children died in the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Pierre immigrated to the United States with his surviving daughter after his entire family died at home in the earthquake.

Pierre’s daughter independently contacted the police to report that her stepmother was missing and told detectives of suspicious injuries to her father’s arm.
